Question Tags / Tag questions

A question tag is a
mini-question used in spoken English. It’s a question added at the end
of a sentence. Speakers use Question Tags / Tag questions chiefly to
make sure their information is correct or to seek agreement.
يضاف هذا السؤال في آخر الجملة في لغة الكلام بغرض التأكيد من صحة المعلومات أو الحصول على الموافقة0

1.يجب أن يكون السؤال مختصر
2.عندما تكون الجملة مثبتة والسؤال منفي تكون الإجابة المتوقعة مثبتة0
3.عندما تكون الجملة منفية والسؤال مثبت تكون الإجابة المتوقعة منفية0
4.تكون نبرة الصوت مرتفعة عندما نكون غير متأكدين جداً من الإجابة0
5.تكون نبرة الصوت منخفضة عندما نكون متأكدين جداً من الإجابة0

Form:

A) Affirmative Statement, Negative Tag. إذا كانت الجملة الخبرية مثبتة يكون السؤال منفياً

·Ahmed is here, isn’t he? Yes, he is.

·It was an interesting story, wasn’t it? Yes, it was.

·Ali likes milk, doesn’t he? Yes, he does.

·They left early, didn’t they? Yes, they did.

·You’ll be on holiday next week, won’t you? Yes, I will

·He hasn’t done his homework, has he? No, he hasn’t.

3.Used to

·They used to play together, didn’t they?

4.Imperative صيغة الأمر (to soften the command لتخفيف نبرة الأمر )

·Open the door, will you?

·Shut the window, would you?

·Stand up, could you?

·Don’t make any noise, will you?

5.Had better / ’d better…, hadn’t

·You’d better go, hadn’t you?

6.Would rather / ’d rather…, wouldn’t

·You’d rather stay, wouldn’t you?

7.Let’s…, shall?

·Let’s sit in the garden, shall we?

·Let’s have some fresh air, shall we?

8. This (That) is your book, isn’t it?

9. These (Those) are yours, aren’t they?

10.There is a meeting today, isn’t there?

11.Everything is all right, isn’t it?

12.Everyone took the test, didn’t they?

13.I have never been to Gaza, have I?

14.Nobody cheated in the exam, did he?
